step-by-step-guide-to-my-note-taking-techniques
Input voraciously and promiscuously. Optimize for starting, spent time identifying new interesting sources of material.
Upon listening or consuming something that seems interesting or has some striking idea, create a new consumption page in my wiki.
As I consume, if you think of a connection immediately, take note and connect it. If you aren't sure of the connection right away, but it feels like an item then create that item but don't transclude it.
If this is material that would benefit from spaced repetition, create the cards as part of your consumption process. Can you rephrase the material into questions that will give you further insight later?
Always try to associate with a project, not just categorize.
Also, see where it fits into a Map of content - MOC
Once done consuming the piece, clean up the notes a bit, try to connect them to other things, look for broader patterns, moving things forward.
The meta-cycle kicks in. Was there something about the process that would benefit from new tooling? Can I make the process more seamless? If so update my tooling.
Todo:
Chronology: 12:50 Revise within the first day, and revise towards the high level understanding x revise within the first 12 hours ^chronology-of-revision
At 16:00 delayed note taking means keeping the cognitive load ( the confusion) and letting it settle in ^delayed-note-taking
Feels like quick highlighting might support that... with highlights meaning that you may add to glossary later, or make prompts. Highlighting is fast enough to not pull you away from the material, and you will know that you will revisit at the end of the session.
